Aidan stood at the balcony. Every floor had one, in the lounge no one used because it was against policy to have alcohol in public areas. He stood there in his boxers, bare legs prickling in the cold air as he stared out over the path from the building, the one Steven had used to walk away. Steven who knew Sammy was upset. Steven who knew Sammy was planning on...

The kiss was a goodbye.

Aidan closed his eyes, his dry throat forcing him to swallow several times. Steven had said goodbye without ever telling him that was what it was, and done it mere moments after admitting to loving him. Fuck.

Aidan felt the shadow. The massive presence quiet behind him. "You disappeared."

"I needed to think," said Aidan. "This is hard for me."

Track pants pressed against Aidan's bare legs. "Do you want company?" asked Sammy, large hands resting on either shoulder, heavy, warm, clamped gently but firmly. Possessive.

Aidan looked up over his shoulder. "Steven never made me hide."

The light glinted off Sammy's Adam's apple as it bobbed up and down. "Is that what you need from me?" Sammy asked, his hands clamping tighter.

"Yes."

Sammy leaned down to kiss him, hard and passionate, but brief. Gasps came from down the hall, and Sammy tensed, but didn't let go, dipping down to kiss him again and then pulling Aidan back against Sammy's bare chest. "All right?"

Aidan nodded and covered the hands spread against his chest with his own. "I feel guilty," he said softly.

"Because Steven will be hurt?" asked Sammy.

Aidan looked up at him. "Wouldn't you?"

"I don't like hurting Steven," said Sammy, his hands pressing hard against Aidan's chest. "But this. This is mine. And I won't have anyone else touching what's mine."

Aidan shuddered and pressed himself backward, closer to Sammy. "It turns me on when you say things like that, you know."

Sammy smiled, holding Aidan against his chest. "Your story told me a lot about what you want. I wish I'd read it earlier."

"Reading it was cheating," said Aidan, pushing backward against Sammy's chest and relishing the feeling of Sammy's hands tightening to keep him closer.

"I wasn't sure Eli was you. But when I saw you with Steven, I couldn't take that chance. I had to try."

"You have to tell Caroline."

Sammy grunted. "I will. I'm not a cheat, Aidan. I'll end it properly."

"You're cheating now. She'll think so," said Aidan, "but I need to know she knows. That I didn't seduce you or trick you. That you chose to come to me."

"This is going to be another of those proving things, isn't it?"

Aidan twisted again to look at Sammy's face, his hands still wrapped over Sammy's. "Some of them will be miserable," he said, sliding one of Sammy's hands down against his groin. Sammy's eyes grew wide, and Aidan smiled again at the tingle that he felt, at the hardening thickness in his briefs as they expanded into the hand that rested against them. "But it'll be worth it."

Sammy shook a little bit. "I'll do it tonight," he said, meeting Aidan's eyes, "while you tell Steven.
